Hans Peter Vogelsanger

Subject: Hickstead

Hi - I am sorry to interrupt your holiday with your family in Switzerland, but I hope you are picking up email as I want to ask for your help!

Several riders said to me at Holziken that the trip to Hickstead was too expensive. Of course, they must expect the cost of the ferry - but it seems to me that many riders have misunderstood the costs. I will explain what I think has happened - could you please help and tell the German riders? I will send a copy of this in English to the Belgians, and I believe the French riders are making their own way, via Dieppe to Newhaven.

1. The ferry costs are quite good value at £250 through Ann's deal with Sea France.

2. The only other costs that riders should be paying - as I understand it - is £25 per horse for the veterinary and export papers from the UK. The reason why there is confusion is that people have received a fax from Shelley Ashman (the shipping agent in Britain) which gives a list of prices, including the company's costs if they are organising the ferry (Anita Homburg showed me her copy). I think people misunderstand this and read it as an invoice. It is very important that riders understand that most of the prices listed on this fax do not apply to them. Ann is organising the ferry, so all that they are asking from Shelley Ashman is to organise the papers for their horses. This could be done 3-4 weeks before Hickstead.

If you receive this, could you please let me know? If I don't hear from you I will try to find someone to translate the information into German and send it to Uwe to forward to German riders.

And my apologies once again for sending this while you are on holiday!

Best wishes,

Lynda
